The car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

In the current market, it is difficult to say, as buyers are tending to have it their way at the moment.

Redbook would say $26-30k, I would guess. I myself paid $35k for a 98 model exactly the same about 6 months ago, which I know was too much, but it was a brilliant car, 55,000km, and all the extras I needed (snorkel, b/bar, polyairs, new tyres, dual batteries, air con, high-lift jack points, 3.5T tow kit etc...), and looked like it had never been used! Add to that 10.5L/100km, live axles, no turbo, and I was sold.

BUT I guess the seller was lucky I came along, as not too many people would want that exact car, and would be willing to pay a bit more for the right one.

There is one sitting in a car yard down the road from my place. It is a 2002 model, 80k on the clock, and just a plain white GXL 105 Series. 6 months ago it was $38990, went down to $36990 after a couple of months, disappeared for a month or so, and is now back on at $29990 (has been for a month or so). It is in reasonable condition (outside is good, but the back is pretty dirty - must have had tools and stuff in it).

I guess the answer to your question would be how desperate is he to sell it?

Cheers,

Chump
