Hey guys, i have a question that you might be able to help me with.
I have 1999 Holden Rodeo. I haven't really had any real dramas, other than on odd Inch of water on the passenger floor. BUT ONLY when it rains. we have tried everything besides replacing the windscreen. I was just wondering if any one else has experienced this.
Cheers,
Adrian

Is it when you have the aircon on? blocked outlet from the aircon unit.

Now that i think about it, i dont think it is, for example in the morning after a night of rain, it would have about the inch or so. However in saying that, we have had a HUGE amount of wate rover the last 48 hours here in SA and thierre isn't a drop. what do you suggest?

If its not the drain hose from the evaporater under the glovebox leaking inside, you could dry the floor thoroughly then aim your watering hose specifically at certain areas of your vehicle i.e. windscreen to determine the exact location of leak.Have someone lay inside while someone else sprays.Good luck.

Your Rodeo leaks... Hhhhmmmm so does my house!!!!!

Sorry I can't help you with the leaking Rodeo.

Thankfully the leak in my house is just as hard to track down. There are others in this town who's leaks are much easier to find.

Hi rodeo99
I can't remember exactly but there is a screw hole or to that affect above the surrounds for the heater fan or in the pastic armouring. I had the same prob just as we were about to sell the vehicle so i didn't take enough notice as u can see. The only reason i slightly remember is that if the screw is not put in place irecall that the next prob u will have is with the fan.
Hope i have not put u on awild goose chase.

Cheers Mattie

Hi Mattie,
Are you refering to the air cond scenario? If so, did the leak change sides on you? Last night after all the rain we had here in SA, it is now on the drivers side instead of the passenger side.

This screw, is it a mounting screw to the body or is it an interior screw that mounts the heater box to the fan etc?

Hi rodeo99
no this was not to do with the air con but we had that prob as well just had to jam a hole up in the water out let from the air con box from the fire wall. The prob i mentioned to u was a rain issue, the holden dealer in Naracoorte (kingcraig motors) told me how to fix, the workshop manager is not there anymore but u could still try them.

Cheers Mattie

Check the huge rubber grommet that has a wiring loom running through it. It is located on the passenger side and is easily visible from the engine bay. I had a big leak as you mention when I ran my spotlight and mobile phone cables through it and didn't seal it properly at first.

Hi Utemad,
this was my first port of call, i had that same grommit that you could see daylight thru. I sealed that up with silcone some time ago, and last night i got into it and now the water was laying on the drivers side instead. so its got me beat. i think i'll try to get the windscreen rplaced is my next option. if you have any further suggestion please drop me a line.
Cheers,

I have heard of what what mattie suggested but never had that problem myself. I assume a Rodeo has them but in an old Commodore I had once the drains from the vent thing in front of the windscreen where the wiper mechanism lives used to block up. So when it rained the water collected in there like a bucket and when it got over a certain point it flooded into the car. The water only left by either evapoiration or I suppose a little bit could still get out the drains. Put your hose into this area and see what happens.

I get leaves collecting in the gap at the back of the front guards at the bottom where it meets the door. Perhaps this is the exit of the drain?

Rodeo99,
These vehicles had a problem with water leaking through the screws of the
black trim panel below the windscreen. There was 1 that was the culprit but
there are a couple of others the could be sealed at the same time.
I have only heard it being a problem on the passenger side but I guess it could
occur in the driver's side as well.
Just lift the bonnet and inspect the panel towards the end (near the guard) and
remove the screws, coat the screw thread with a silicon sealant and refit screws.
Do this on both sides of the vehicle and see how it goes.

cheers Moz

After a night of rain, there will be a little puddle on the drivers side floor!

Hi Dan, & to all those guys who helpped me,
Dan, i decided to get some hot water, 10lt in a bucket, drilled a few hole in it and let it trickle down different areas of the windsreen, this being hot water, i was hoping i could locate it quicker. Your probably thinking, what an idiot. after doing this i found that it was pooling in the 2 kick panels, and then filling up the underlay beneath the lino then onto the lino. I had to clean out he guard directly behind the mud flaps.

The next thing i did was replace my front windscreen. It turned out that the Top and 2 sides weren't touching the Poly Erythane at all. Only the Botton was sealed. Good thing i did other wise i probably would of gone nuts having checked out every other avenue.

I hole that my adventure help you with your leak as these exercises seem to have fixed mine. Thanks to every1 that has helped me out.
Kind Regards,
Rodeo99
