Hi all, thought I would post this for those that are looking for bucket seats to replace the 3/4 front
seat After looking around all the wreckers in melb for a bucket
seat for my Poverty pack cruiser only one pair available wouldn't seperate and wanted $1200 "ouch" I eventually decided to see if it was practicle to cut down my 3/4 into a bucket I discovered Jamieson Auto fit in
Laverton North for $460 they cut the appendage off the front
seat and reused the upolstery from the off cut to repair the side you can't tell the difference from an original ( my mate has GXL and said it looks exactly like his) they specialise in
seat modifications good thing about the mod is it uses original
seat mounts and
seat belt mount therefore no Engineering certificate required Now all I have to do is get a centre console ???
I do not have any association to Jamieson's other than a happy customer
Hope this helps
Cheers All
Barry

Don't know if you have seen the document 4 wheel drive Victoria have put out regarding your question to long to print here but in short it says after discussion with Transport SA & Vic Roads-
Quote - This issue has been blown out of all proportion. There is no reason seats that are designed to be removedable cannot be removed.
Doing this DOES NOT alter the seating CAPACITY of the vehicle.
Seating capacity is defined by the Australian Design Rules as the MAXIMUM number of seating positions for which the vehicle is DESIGNED - ie not the number of seats actually fitted at any time.
By inter Government agreement vehicle standards are common throughout Australia.
I got the same answer when I went to Vic Roads.
As I stated in my post, in my case the integrety of the
seat wasn't compremised because the original
seat mounts and
seat belt mounts were untouched.
Hope this answers you question
Cheers

I replaced the front seats in my troopy, with two buckets, when I took the car in to have a child restraint fitted I had to get the front seats mod plated and the seating capacity changed. (as with you, I used all the original mountig points and hardware)
The car went from a 6 seater to 5, that's not a temporary change.
Visit Ausjeepoffroad for an increasing number of of guys being booked in their wranglers for not having their rear seats in!
cheers
