Can anyone please advise their best and worst fuel usage for current V8 Landcruiser. I have heard of someone getting sub 12 lt / 100 which I find hard to believe.

100 series gxl v8 - roof rack, bar and winch and many aerials - extra spare and hf on the back - many weight inside - best of all it's not
mine but my employers - best is 15l/100km on bitumen hdg to
carnarvon - worst is 50+ in the sand nth of
lancelin. you get what you pay for and if you wish to move in excess of 2.5t through sand you need to feed it lots and lots of petrol. on a flat run with the wind behind and nothing added either on or in the car then maybe 12 is achievable - bet they are not doing more than 90 though. if you are woried about the petrol then get a diesel. though our turbo troopy is pushing 35+ in the sand - it carries a lot more than the 100 ever will. rgds

100 Series V8 4.7ltr,
- bull bar, winch, ARB roof rack etc so fair bit of extra weight
Around
Melbourne city driving avg 19 - 20ltr 100Kms
Coutnry drivign best is about 14 ltr per 100 kms
Towing a CT 25ltr 100 kms when doign speed limit of 110, better if slower
Sand, great fun but dont watch the fuel gauge
The sticker on them when you buy them says 16.9ltr 100kms combined city and coutnry drviing
It's a fantastic car but if worried about the expense of petrol forget it. Remeber thought with the LC 100 you pay quite a few extra thousand for the diesel upfront plus it costs more to service i beleive. So depending on how many kms you do could take a long time to get back the extra dollars spent upfront.
Yes, i can hear it already, you will probably get some of that extra back in a higher trade in, depends on how long you keep it and what you do wiht it i guess.
I have driven the diesel a few times lately whem my car has been getting bits added to it and every time i can't wait to get back into the V8.

Hi there Goona, power difference V8 170kw 410nm torque
Diesel 150kw 430nm torque
My uncle has the turbo diesel around 11/13 around town 16/20 pulling his 24 foot van cant comment on sand driving he doesn't do it. V8, cousin has one, best around town 18 has had down to 13 freeway driving, but he does run the air all the time no roof racks only b/bar, t/bar carrys every thing else in his camper, he has done the sand and has seen it as high as 35L per 100klms. Go the diesel if worried about fuel he wishes he had sometimes, he likes the get up and go off the mark and overtaking but like my uncles when he looks at the difference between klms when it comes time to fill up.Your own choice really as said will pay more for the deisel but dont think it would take that long to make up the dirrerence in $$$$ if your going to keep it a while. My uncle is rapted with the diesel, had petrol before in his 80 series will never go back to petrol. Regards Vitara

Recent trip last month from Melb to Pambula in my 2004 V8, I got exactly 753 kms before the main
tank (90lt) ran dry -that's about 12lt/100km's by my reckoning!
Mind you, it's completely stock with the only addition being a 2nd Battery System. But we were loaded to the gills with the kids, fridge, food, & everytheing else you can think of for 3 weeks away!
City commuting driving I get an average of 15.5lt/100 (at an average of around 25-30km/h - I hate City Driving!!!!).
Cheers,
Gregster

Last weekend we did an 1100km trip towing a 1.25T camper trailer and I was really happy with 24lt per 100 (or 500km on a 120lt
tank). We mainly sat on the limit around 105-115kms/hr when possible.
This may seem alot but when we also put a Thule coffin, a Malibu and a few more bits on the roof we go up to 28.5lt per 100km.
I dont seem to get anywhere close to 15lt/100 around town.

Hi All. Diesel servicing fot the 4.2 turbo would not be much more than for petrol . Scheduled
services for the clean running direct injection diesel are 10,000k, only difference would be 3lt or so more oil and a slightly dearer filter, maybe $30 per service.
Regards Ken.
