I am not sure if there is some issue with 98 GU Patrols atenna, but any decent car audio place should be able to supply and install an electric antenna for around $150-$200, Strathfield, Tonkins etc.

I had to do mine about 12 months ago.....the Nissan telescopic bit with the nylon "tail" was about $80- and it cost me $20- for the sparky bloke to put it in. Note I have a mate who is in the panel beating game and asked him would he give me a hand to instal it. He said "no way"...he doesn't do them himself; too much chance to f-up the nylon tail and buggar up the whole new antenna.

The sparky bloke took about 2 minutes to do the job ($600- per hour; nice work if you can get it!!!)

I have just replaced mine in a 99 patrol and ended up paying around the $100 mark for genuine.
I did notice that Super Cheap auto had one that was close to the right size but am unsure wheather it would fit.Probably should have tried it first and taken it back but at the time I was in a hurry so I paid the price.

Hi,

I just replaced mine on a 2000 GU for $70 with a genine unit. You replace the metal and nilon tooth portion. I could not find a non genuine one anywhere.

Regards

Yep - you can buy the "mast and rope" as they call it - the telescopic metal tubes and the nylon insert - comes as one assembled item - can be installed as a part, to your existing motor drive unit. I fitted my own to the Jackaroo - bugger of a job. There may be a quick way to do it, but I didn't find it. Back in 2002, the part was about $55 I think. Who knows what Nissan will want - think of a reasonable amount, add some more and then double it :-()

jt, i fitted an aftermarket mast and rope to my GU yesterday, cost $40 from repco and its an aeropro unit, part # AP12. Fitting instructions are on the box and it took about 10 mins.

same here simple to fit the only time it gets complex is if the nylon tail is broken then you have to dismantle the unit if not just undo the lock ring around the aerial mast then put the aerial up until the nylon tail comes all the way out ,fit the new one in reverse ,easy. I believe the ones from a commodre are the same as some models at $25 cant be beaten take your old one to compare when buying the new one
