Can anyone confirm whether it is possible to convert an HJ47 Troopie (1984) to power steering? Are the necessary parts exclusive to the HJ47 series or are there any from other models that would do the job? Are there any good sources for the (presumably used) parts? Thanks.

47 series didn't have power steering from the factory, only late 45's and some of the shorty's.
I looked into fitting power steer to my 47 troopy but needed the box from a shorty and the pump etc from a 2H powered 60 series. There were also differences in the drag link, tie rods (heavier/thicker) between power and non power.
Have a really good look at a2H powered sixty series engine as you need to fit all the stuff relating to the power steer pump and drive from that to your 47, from memory the pump physically wouldn't fit in the same place due to clearance issues between the engine and chassis and the RHS engine mount/bottom radiator hose. I got cold feet at that point.
It might be worth looking at a 2H powered 75 series as the pump may be mounted in a different postion and I think they have a narrow chassis like a 47.

Yes it is quite an easy job.

FJ45 steering shaft (the model that comes with power steer)
FJ45 power steer box
60 series power steer pump. And hoses to suit
RH engine mount with bracket for pump
Spacer for fan. (to allow for clearence of belt) about 20-25 mm.
Double pully on crank. (for extra belt)
Belts to suit.

And this may alter if you have A/C.

Except for the belts all parts are Toyota.

Oh one thing I forgot the bottom radiator outlet needs to be angled slightly.

I had it on mine for over 7 years.
