Mate has an '01 Rodeo, The maximum ball weight on his Holden hitch is 120kg... Probably not enough for your van. Not sure if it has been upgraded as the years have gone by.

Hi Chris-a
I can not comment on the rodeo, but I can on the Navara as I have an 2003 ST-R diesel.
As far as comfort goes, the ST-R model is extremely comfortable to drive, but I would wonder if a single cab would feel too cramped.
I previously had single cabs, (pre children) and never liked the fact that when you have a passenger in the car, there was no room to strore a bag etc.
I have owned a space cab previously, and that was great to store items behind the seats
As far as the ability of the navara to pull a caravan, the navara would have no problems, I have towed my camper trailer with ease, and occasionly been asked to tow a car trailer with a old commodere (I guess about 2 tonnes), and no problems.
Hope this helps

G'day Chris.
I've got the Navara which I use to tow the work trailers quite often(bout 1200kg) and it handles it no dramas. The vehicle is comfortable to drive both around the city and on the highway. I can't comment on the rodeo.
Cheers Matt.
