Hi All, Just wondering if any top end members can recommend a good 4WD mechanic in
Darwin.
I drove from
Nhulunbuy to
Darwin and and back again, and then once more to
Darwin for good measure (about 3500km with 2500 of it unsealed), towing a fully loaded trailer (I destroyed 4 trailer tyres and 3 rims on my final trip, but that's another story!)
I've had it in for a grease and oil change (and a clutch master cylinder, but that's another story again), and the mechanic told me parts were hard to get for these
grey imports out of Japan. Last I checked, Nissan imported the Terrano II's from Spain, and there was nothing
grey about it. Parts are hard to get because Nissan Australia dropped it like a hot potato after 3 years of poor sales.
The old girl's starting smoking a bit under acceleration, and while I was told the brakes and
suspension are fine, I feel that I need a second opinion.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Scott

Dear Scottwheels,
In June this year I had troubles with my gear box at
Borroloola - limped into
Darwin to "Prompt Auto Repairs ", 14 Travers Street, Coconut Grove, NT. Ph: 89856733, Fax: 89480018, boss's name is Trevor. They were fantastic - went out of their way to help - had me back on the road in 2 days. Found the problem, fixed the problem and reasonably priced as
well. Can't speak highly enough of them. Maybe my vehicle is more conventional for up there - but would recomment them.
Marilyn
