I have just purchased a TX3400 and wish to program the extra channels. The manual says this can only be done by a dealer for this model. The dealer however will only be using a piece of software on his laptop (I assume), so why can’t I get the software and do it myself?

Has anyone got the software?
Where did you get it from?
Would you like to share it?

Aren't all of the users of those "extra channels" about to go digital anyway? Why bother?

I have the same radio, got the S/W for freebie, happy to pass on a copy. The killer was the programming cable off ebay $70 plus $10 postage.
To get a dealer to program the unit it was $33.00,
I figured that I may program my unit multiple times once the Police Freg went digitial, plus I'd rather do it myself and understand abit more.
Already programmed it twice.
Also the program gives you some other options like locking ch's etc.
Though most functions can be done via the faceplate, I find it nice and easy doing it via computer.
What state you in??

Hazza, tell me how I can get a copy pls. I'd be interested in looking at the cable if your in sunny Melbourne (as I think thats a bit too much for a cable with two $1 connectors)

Most dealers you buy from will do it free. You tell them what you want.

2 local places will do it for $10 and $15 respective. Why bother spending $70 on a cable?
