I am looking for feedback on Pioneer Off Road Camper Trailers and in particular the Argyle 4x4 and Onyx models in terms of durability, resale etc. Also how do they compare to say a Kimberly Off Road Camper Trailers

Hi,
I have just brought the prospector mark 2.
Mine was brought for the price rather than how it compared to others in the market. One of my mates owns a Campomatic and has just returned from a round Aus trip.
My thoughts in comparing Pioneer, KK and Campomatic are- the Pioneer is much, much lighter but strength wise looks like it will handle it. I'm from the old school were bigger is better but the draw back is weight. I had no trouble pulling my camper up a very soft dune but my mate with his Campomatic had huge dramas. In this case it was purely weight that was the issue, tyres were at the lowest you'd go and he had plenty of power and skill but it took hours to get him up there.
Kitchen in the Pioneer is very basic compared to the other two. Appointments seem to be similar or better depending on the model. Finish is good and very similar to the KK in setting up. KK and Campomatic have the name due to being some of the first to use this concept. Will it make any difference with resale, my opinion is probably not.
So far I'm happy with ours and intend doing a 6mth trip to the Kimblery and Pilbra region next year. If I buy again I'd probably buy a different unit, maybe the
Cape York unit or a Campomatic. Only because they are made stronger but again the drawback is hundreds of kg's heavier and do you need the extra strength. I think my Pioneer will handle everything I throw at it and probably get to more
places than the heavier units.
