Gday All,
Was wondering whether it was worthwhile converting the leaf springs to coil springs on an 89 Hilux. Will the cost be too substantial?Or can anything be done to improve the performance of the original springs

Gday PatNav,
Have you thought about Parabolic springs?. They will be alot cheaper than a coil conversion. They will give you a softer ride and more wheel travel.
Well worth looking into.
Steve.

What are you trying to achieve?, Do you carry heavy loads including towing, more height or further wheel travel and the list goes on. First you could get
the springs reset by a
suspension shop then If your carry a heavy load you could get poly airbags, maybe add a extra leaf. More height you could get extended shackles or put leafs on top, though you might have legal problems.
You will find more info on the Outerlimits4x4.com
forum about coil setups.

I added coils to my MQ patrol shorty, improved the
suspension greatly. Cost about the same as new leaf packs, worthwhile doing in my opinion.
