Hi Folks,
We are currently considering having our 2001 (May) 3L Diesel Nissan Patrol (auto) to be gas fumigated, in other words gas introduced via the air intake. It appears that the gas mix will be roughly 15-20%. Has anyone had any experience with this type of gas usage, particularly in 3 litre Nissan Patrol TDs?
I look forward to receiving your comments.
Many thanks.

Hi there,
You will find the LPG to air ratio will be a lot lower than this - typically 3-5% (according to the litrature I have). I have investigated doing it to my TD42T but am trying to justify the price of $2000 from one mob (36L
tank) and $3000 from another.
Try ringing the place that is advertising to see if they can hook you up with someone they have allready converted.
We used to have comp cars that ran LPG fumigation in them - some profesionally done - some backyard jobbies (but cetified by a gas fitter) so can definately vouch for the power increase (not exactly setup for economy as the kits your refering to).
Regards
David

If the 3L engine you are referring to is the Nissan ZD30 engine I'd be steering clear of double digit percentages (ie 10%) in the iterests of engine longevity.
Sure more LPG will produce more power, but these engines had a habit of giving up on their own.
The concept of introducing LPG is to stimulate more complete combustion of the diesel fuel geing injected, rather than generate the extra power sole from the combustion of the LPG. 2%-5% should cause nearly complete combustion of all the diesel. Any extra LPG will be more than is trquired for that purpose on a modern EFI diesel engine.
