TOYOTA SURF MODiFICATION

Is it a requirement by law to have rear tail lights and turning lights installed in the rear bumper? Living in Victoria. HELP!

Its a requirement for Tail and Turning Lights to be a certain height , and seen from certain angles.

Often the bumper mounted lights are as a result of having a rear mounted spare wheel , eg Patrols, Pajeros etc etc.

The Cruisers normally dont have bumper mounted lights because they have underslung spare wheel , UNTIL , they relocate it to a swingaway , which is normally also changed to have rear bumper lights.

On a Surf , I'm assuming you have a rear swingaway spare. In which case , bumper lights would be required.

It depends on the date of manufacture of the SURF - rear bumpers lights were only required after a certain year (not sure what year - I think around 90-4 but not sure).

Generally if the vehicle came stock with (or without) a tyre carrier and no bumper lights - there is no need to fit additional bumper lights.

What year is it - and what modification are you planning?
