I am planning on building a false floor in the back of my dual cab Rodeo. I got a quote to weld up a frame out of aluminium square, but they want $1300.00. The other alternitive is the cub-loc system but am not sure if it will be strong enough. The length of the tray is about 1400 and width is 1000 between the wheel arches. it will carry all the usual camping gear, including fridge, 60l diesel and about 75 l of water. The other alternative is to buy a set of storage drawers and be done with it.
Your ideas and thoughts will be greatfull.
Alex.

I have made a storage system for the back of my dual cab Hilux. I firstly made a false floor out of 12mm exterior ply, and laquered it a couple of times to be sure. Onto this I have added a drawer on one side, and a fridge slide on the other. I also made a box up and over the wheel arches to store stuff in. I rather crudely bolted this straight through the floor and several
places. I used 6mm bolts, high tensile (not really needed) and nylock nuts.
I have done heaps of the
Vic High Country, Fraser Island and the
Simpson Desert with this setup, and it is fantastic. The very last addition was a cover over the fridge, so I could stack stuff on top of the fridge. Everything is made our of 12mm exterior ply, and covered with carpert I scored for nicks from a mate.

Hi pafc,
I did something similar to Andrew except I used 17mm for the top (overkill, maybe) but it's been great.
I kept the unit low because I use the truck for work and need the height, the drawers are the full length of the box which measures 1500mm x 1100mm.
The drawers are worth the effort, it’s amazing how much fits in them. I use one side for tools, spares, recovery gear and a bit of
camping stuff and the other side for food and cooking utensils cutlery etc.
And the best part is that it’s always accessible no matter how much stuff you’ve got in the back.
