Hi all,
I've done a search on the archives and came across a post about putting AU seats into an 80 series Landcruiser. I think the poster was "Eric". There was mention of some photos of the mounts utilising the original mounts. Does anyone have these photos somewhere? Does anyone know if it does any cutting/welding of the original rails? I would prefer not to do that so it's reversible.
I've been down to the wreckers and had a look at my original GXL seats (which aren't much good).
I've got a rough idea how to attack it, but would like to confirm I'm going along the same lines
as someone who has already done it/had it working.
Mounting the
seat is fine. I'm wondering things like:
- How to mount the
seat belt clasp properly. Does this come off the original rails?
- The sliding mech seems to be an integral part of the AU
seat. Do you end up with 2 sliding mechs
in the finished product, as there is one also in the original rails?
Thanks.

Hi hudnut , I fitted AU 3 futura seats in the 80 that i had , and they were better than any after market
seat on the market . The
seat belt ancor points are identical , so its a mater of bolt of the AU buckle and bolt on the 80 series buckle . I used the original 80 series rails . What I did was remove the slider from the ford rails , and weld a plate accross the bottom of whats left of the ford runners . then mark the plate were the 80 series rails go , drill 4 holes and bolt them to your car , ill try dig up some pic's . The new owner of tuff 80 lurks this site , so maby we can t up a bo peep
