HF Radio Frequencies

Apart from the usual vks and RFDS frequencies, what other frequencies do other members have in there HF Radio (with an auto tune aerial) to listern to,and who in Perth WA can put them in or can you purchase the soft ware to do it your self.?

I am no expert but on the newer radios (and with appropriate antenna) you can listen any frequencie you like ie no need to buy certain crystals or "burn" eproms. At a guess I would say that in addition to VKS/RFDS people would go for Radtell/Bushphone (to allow for connection to telephone system), and maybe the HF CB channels. Here is a list I found - note channel numbers for various frequencies can vary ie user defined...sorry for out of line columns

Sadly, the ABC Perth frequencies shown closed some years ago and the transmitters dismantled. Pity, as at 50kw output, they provided brilliant coverage in the Kimberley.
Suggest you log onto the Radio Aust website, as they have lots of good programs (in English!) worth listening to when you want to catch up with news etc in the wilderness.

Can you legally use CB frequencies from an HF radio. CB frequencies are restricted to 12 W max power whereas the HF will push out 100 W
Just a thought, I know you can reduce the power output on HF but still too high
