HAVING TRAVELLED EASTERN VICTORIA & SOUTHERN NSW USING THE BOOK "CAMPS AUSTRALIA WIDE" I FOUND THAT 50% OF CAMPSITES LISTED COULD NOT BE FOUND OR DID NOT EXIST & OF THE REMAINING 50% THE DIRECTIONS , DISTANCES OR SERVICES SUPPLIED WERE NOT ACCURATE. A FELLOW TRAVELLER FROM BRISBANE WHO TRAVELLED NSW, SA, & VIC COMMENTED SIMILIAR WHEN MENTIONED THAT HE HAD THE SAME BOOK AND HAD BEEN ON THE ROAD TWO MONTHS. IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING ACCURACY PROBLEMS WITH THIS BOOK. GPS REFS MAY BE NICEADDITION TO BOOK

Hi Bert,

I don't have the book but was thinking of buying it after stumbling across their web-site recently.

They have a fairly comrehensive list of updates on the web, sorted by state. Authors note: "Because the book has been in the marketplace for over 12 months and used by thousands of people, there has been a tremendous feedback on amendments and corrections to existing sites, plus new additions. These have been placed on the web site so that the guide can be brought up to date at any time."

Hope this helps.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY MELISSA, I HAD BEEN MAKING NOTATIONS IN THE BOOK WHEN I FOUND THE CAMPSITES TO CORRECT THE INFORMATION AS SOME DIRECTIONS WERE VERY VAGUE AND SOME IN INTIRELY THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OR EVEN THAT DISTANCE AND DIRECTION OUT OF THE NEXT TOWN ALONG. SOME PEOPLE MUST GET REALLY GEOGRAPHICALLY EMBARASSED AT TIMES. I WILL CHECK THAT SITE YOU MENTIONED, THE BOOK HAS HEAPS OF POTENTIAL ONCE THE INFORMATION IS CORRECTED AND WILL BE INVALUABLE WHEN TRAVELLING CAUSE AS YOU KNOW THE BEST CAMPSITE IN AN AREA FOREIGN TO YOU IS ALWAYS 2 KMS FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD THAN WERE YOU FINALLY GAVE UP LOOKING AND CAMPED ANYWAY. THANK YOU RGDS BERT

Bert,

I use a couple of other free camping books and a popular 4wd treks book. It isn't unusual to find errors big and small. Was away last week and discovered our 4wd book had one trek completely upside down on the map. Talk about confusing. Ended up having to buy another map.

MICH, THE BOOK HAS ALREADY SAVED MONEY IN FINDING CAMP SITES THAT I DID NOT KNOW OFF, BUT IT WAS FRUSTRATING TRYING TO FIND ONES THAT EITHER DONT EXIST OR THE DIRECTIONS WERE COMPLETELY WRONG, EG SW NOT SE, 4KM NOT 2KM, AND OUT OF NEXT TOWN SOUTH, NOT TOWN LISTED, AS WAS ONE I FOUND, THE RESERVE DID HAVE A NAME SO THATS HOW I CONFIRMED IT. BUT THE BOOK HAS LOTS OF POTENTIAL AND WILL BE INVALUABLE WHEN I CORRECT A FEW THINGS RGDS BERT
