I have yet heard any complaints from the Scubies of the world yet in reaction to the new bicycle rack that is to be fitted to City buses in
Canberra. This has got to be less pedestrian-friendly than my nice rounded airbag compatible bullbar....ain't it????
Cut and paste this into your browser and read the story:

They've had these in
Brisbane for a couple of years now and I have only seen a bike on them once.
It may have seemed like a good idea at the time but generally, the people who use bikes as a form of transport don't need to catch buses. Also, not all buses have them, so you'd have to wait, with your bike, at the bus stop, until a bus with a bike rack arrived.

Don't talk to me about
canberra and bikes, the fools have gone and put bike paths down along the sides of half the major roads. Can you imagine the mess, mixing slow moving bikes with cars doing 70 or 80 ks.
To make matters worse you have to give way to the bikes when you are trying to make a left hand exit onto a ramp.
Jon Stahope must be a bike rider I reckon

The idea of bike lanes is to stop them "mixing"
Must be slow riders, when I was riding bikes.......;-)

Yeah but mind you they already have bike paths seperated from the roads in nice safe
places. These nutters have decided that they needed bike lanes along the roads so the pinched part of the road in
places, made the vehicle lanes a bit narrower and then put cycle lanes in??
