Hi All, - I've just ordered a 10,500lb Ox hydraulic winch that is about to go on my 100 series cruiser. Ive got the hose kit on order to ( of course)!!, and now my question -
Has anyone installled one of these in thier back Shed ??? how much stuffing around is it?? I am a very mechanical minded person, full tool set, have removed R+R'd the previous warn, do all my own electrics (Qualified electronics Tech)
But not too much experience with the hydraulics side of things. Any special
tools needed? any traps to fall in, or is this a staight forward install -
My reasons for doing it myself - obviously somthing goes wrong/breaks middle nowhere - i can fix/ attempt to fix myself, I also like knowing all the nuts/bolts/side rails/terminals/cable strain relief etc.. have been done to a high standard - "My standard" !!!
Or is it just as easy to pay the $160 and hope it all goes in good, and everything else gets returned, just the way it was???? - Should I put faith in the installers???
Love to hear from anyone who has installed one of these baby's........
Thanks heaps,
Jarrod.

Hi,
I have installed that very winch into my ARB winch bar on my Rodeo. The most painful part of the install was removing the winch bar and then putting it back on with the winch in it. As for connecting the hydraulic hoses that is very simple. Just can be a pain getting at the connection on the steering box if it is anything like my Rodeo was. I connected the hoses to the winch before I reinstalled the bar to make life easier. Just ask what the Ox hoses connect to before you go pulling the old hoses off. As on a Rodeo the hose that goes between the steering pump and the winch actually connects onto the end of the original hose and not to the steering pump itself.
Once it is installed from memory you have to wind the cable fully out and then fully in to ensure no air is left in the system. A bit of steering wheel lock to lock too. This was all done 4 years ago and I removed
mine along with the bar 6 months ago. It is a messy affair to remove one of these
winches that is for sure.
