Don't be too envious John. He hasn't told you about the tagalongs with the cars that continually break down, the novice drivers that sit on 10 kph & hold up the schedule, the nagging clients who seem to expect something from the time you get up at 6am till you go to bed at 12pm.
The vegetarians that turn their noses up at your beautiful roast & the high country rain that comes on
cue as you get to the
lookout, stop for lunch or set up
camp. It's not all beer & skittles as some would have you believe ;-)) (but a great office to work out of none the less)
Cheers Craig.............

Yeah you are so right, Craig.
After three years I gave the touring away as I was sick of it.
120 trips into Jim Jim and
Twin Falls and difficult customers occasionally, too boot.
That was in the early 80's!!!
So much nicer to go away on your own and not to worry about "what might" happen....LOL
Cheers

Never considered running tours as I don't like mobs of people anyway.
Jim Jim falls was great. Had the usual German touro stuck in the sandy creekbed. Hubs out of course. He passed me later at a zillion
miles an hour and was at least 5 mts ahead of me at the roadhouse. I swore that if he ended up in the table drain then he was going to stay there !

That's what makes the job more interesting if it was all plain sailing wheres the challenge.
With the novices after 18 odd days you feel as though you have achieved something when they come up and say they would have never done that with out you.
That's another reason we only do self catered and not catered every one has different ideas about a meals.
And yes there are many questions from sun up till late at night but hey you also learn of things about people.
On the last day the fair
well takes about 2 or so hours and the ladies are all teary because its ended.
And yes I cant wait till the next trip
All the best
Eric

All this talk about tour opperators reminds me of a group who crossed the Simpson, it had been a shocking run & they pulled into
Birdsville at 9pm (missing the prearranged meal) after two near new Pajero's had serious mechanical failures. Whilst in the shower I first listened to one of the pair who had broken down singing the praises of the tour leader & wondering what would have happened if they had completed the trip alone. Shortly after a couple more members of the party came in exclaiming "Bloody Redex Ralley Tours they should have called it" obviously peeved off at the speed & long days they had to endure to try to get back on schedule which all goes to proove you can't make everyone happy all of the time no matter how hard you try.
To top it off the tour leader had a flat battery at the pub & it wouldn't restart :-))
Cheers Craig...........

Yes you do have problems on tour
About 2 years back we had a long range rank fall out of a 4wd.
We spent about 3 hours putting it back under the 4wd.
We were behind schedule but things happen we all had a chat and we decided to
camp in another spot and not turn it into a red ex trip a lot less stressful and relaxed
All the best
Eric
