Heading to
Perth in January, to visit friends. Taking our time and going to check out the south and south west of W.A. Can anyone recomend some maps or guides of these areas that we can buy. We love
the beach and sucluded campsites with the accasional caravan
park for domestic duties. Pick up my new Rodeo in 7 days. Yippie.

Hello
The maps made by DLI provide good tourist info...and the secondary road detail is not bad either. Strangely not for sale in exploroz
shop (couldnt find them) while other DLI products are.. anyway look here
Streetsmart Tourist Maps
Go for the South West Corner,
Perth & South West and maybe Southern Forests for a start.
and good

Hi Greg,
They certainly are on the Adventure
Shop... but under Dola. I think I will change that name as they are now updating all their maps slowely to StreetSmart.
Click here to view them all.

My apologies - I obviously didnt try hard enough - anyway they are very good maps for their intended purpose. I have been using them for years - converted a few of the pdf's for OziExplorer - look good on the PDA!
Cheers

There is a booklet called "The guide to free-
camping in the south of WA" it covers it from a perspective you might find useful as it assumes you are travelling from the East and working your way up to
Perth. Its in its 5th edition now. I find the Priceless books to offer more detail (and a GPS co-ordinate which I find useful) but this booklet should be more up to date as its a more recent printing.
IMO its
well worth looking at.
Their website is Free-
Camping

You can get the book "4WD Days on the South Coast of Western Australia"
from the Exploroz
shop - we used it on our trip around the south coast in January, then i somehow lost it. First place we stopped, a fellow traveller said "you must get this great new book" and showed me the same as i already had purchased from Exploroz. He had been based for a few years in the region and added first hand knowledge to his advice as we were pulling a caravan. We used it on conjunction with other materials to plan our tour. Pity i lost it - i keep wanting to refer to it again.
