You might want to do a search of
forum topics. Someone asked this not long ago...

All I can say is, don't touch them. I have 2 tanks from 4WD Systems and have had trouble with them ever since they were put in 6 years ago. The installation was crap. We broke down on the Pedirka Track 20 Kms short of Dalhousie, had to be trailered back to
Oodnadatta and spent 4 hours under the Jack to fix a 2 minute problem. The wiring had beem poorly routed, so it rubbed through and shorted out the fuel pump. They paid for the recovery, but by then our Simpson trip was missed. Had to be towed from Barnett spings on the Gibb RR, to
Derby, because the fuel pickup pipes had vibrated off. it seems that at installation, they were just cold bent to fit the
tank which weakened then excessively. While the new pickup was being installed, we fitted a large magnet into the main
tank to pick up the metal flakes etc, which were still floating around in the
tank. I still get my main filter changed each service and each time, it is filled with rust. I carry a filter with me at all times. Not happy!
Happy
trails, Mike.

Hi Tom. Are you sure about the main
tank or is it the sub-
tank?
In the middled of this year I had fitted to my GXL 80 series a Long
Ranger tank thru ARB. I liked the idea of the aluminiumised steel re rust prevention. I have only done local trips into the mountains & around the
border track /
Big desert & no problems. Replaced the fuel filter at 1000km as per instructions & it was as clean as a whistle.
From dead empty, it took 178.41 litres to fill it. Cost was $800.00 for the
tank & $280.00 for the fitting.
Cheers Tony
