When I bought a camper trailer about 12 months ago, I expected to trade my Jack in on a Prado, Patrol or Cruiser. Now that I'm thinking about buying another Jack, I'm wondering about whether the Jack
wheels (245/70R16's) and trailer
wheels (with Patrol/Cruiser offset and 265/70R16 BRG's) are interchangeable. I've swapped them for a quick test and nothing seems to rub on either the Jack or trailer, although the trailer
wheels stick out a few cm on the Jack. Any swapping on the road would only be for as long as it takes to get repairs done. I know I'd need to keep similar diameter
wheels on the back of the Jack. Does this sound OK? Am I missing anything?
Rob.

Hi Robbg,
As far as I know as long as nothing rubs,go for it,with your wheel protuding past your guard I think if they pull you over to inspect you they will defect you...but you would have to be unlucky, if you only use them in emergencies you should be sweet.Me myself I would bolt anything on to get out of trouble!!

Offsets usually added to clear the brake calipers so a bit extra is not a worry.Your putting more load on the wheel bearings but for emergency use it's not realy a problem.

Hi Robbg
Had the same question with our Paj and Aussie Swag camper.
Wheels fit and clear everything but offset is different. After querying it on Paj website response was generally as per the one above-- putting strain on wheel support but for short term and careful driving to get out of trouble should not be an issue.
Can't say that I have tried it as yet and hope it stays that way. But at least I know I canm if necessary.

The Offsets for the majority of IFS vehicles, Jack, Pajero, Prado, Hilux etc , are pretty much the same and are interchangable. The offsets for live axles , Patrols , Cruisers etc , are different , and may or may not fit (brakes, guards etc). Generally though , a Six stud wheel will fit on anything 6 stud , so for emergency , no reason it cant be done , but, I wouldn't want to have 3
wheels with 1 offset , and 1 different , for too long.
