Never heard of this before - my experience with Toyota for Warranty (when I was on warranty) was great - they could not do enough for me - Could depend on the attitude of the Dealer. What city are you in.

Ray,
Can you describe the symptoms of the problem. There's a wealth of techno knowledge on this
forum. At least you'll know what yer talking about with the dealer - they don't seem to like that!

Had a problem with a shake in my old 80srs wheel alignment specialist checked no find, then tyre expert checked no find then power steering expert check no find. Then I check and find by accident thru an unusual noise when steering turned. It turned out to be a fracture in the rod that ties the chassis together at the front of the vehicle, the weld actually let go where the rod was fixed to the chassis.IN 25years I had never come accross this after servicing Gov 4x4s and privately owned 4x4s. So if a shake is the problem with your steering please check this area.

G'day Ray,
I hava a 2004 lc100 gxl td and have just been told by a wheel alignment specialist that the steering rack has too much play. This is due to the rack being attached to the chassis by bushes. Will see my dealer soon to see what they say. I see you have had your rack replaced. Did they check your bushes? Anyway just a thought.
Cheers
Andrew

Hi Andrew & all others who posted to my request.. The faults have been with the vehicle since purchase brand new from
Busselton Toyota here in WA.symptoms are very wanderlng steering at slow speed..tends to (tram line)and follow any road deviations I am constantly having to correct steering..this is my 6th landcruiser. 3rd 100 series. but BSN Toyota say I need to get used to it ! some joke???the only diferance to others is 17in rims.my mates GXL is fitted with 16in rim and drives OK.the rim size is the only diferance hope that may shed some lite on my problem...cheers Ray047

Just an update:
Went to the dealer yesterday and everything checked out ok. Apparently the dealer has had many mechanics report this (eg RACV) but it is normal. However he said that Prados do sometimes have a problem.
By the way I have not detected any problem with the steering.
Cheers

Hi Ray,
Different brands of tyre will sometimes show up with the tracking characteristics you have mentioned. Especeially in the larger sizes.
As there are probably not too many of us yet with 17 inch rims and tyres we can't comment but I know that going from 33" Kelly's where I could hardly keep my Sahara on the road to 33" Yokahama's totally changed my vehicles driving characteristics.
I would try a different tyre brand.
Good luck in solving the issue,
Brett
