Gday all, as some rubber trims were missing on my gq,I thought i would replace them all ,these are the ones that stick on the doors & gaurds near the bottom running from front to back, mainly cosmectic, about 2inch high. So I thought I would ring nissan & get a price.. the two front doors were..........$500 EACH!!!![thats just for the rubbers not the whole f%%king door] cos. I did ask em.!
I had an old fella putting on some of those stick on graphics,[they look $hithot]& i told him the story , he had rolls of the stuff in his van, so he sold me enough to do the lot for $80!!!! It was EXACTLY the same stuff.. I rang nissan to make sure& he discribed it the same.
I know genuine parts for my toyota are bloody dear, looks like nissan are worse
Oh well, I feel better now,& the truck looks great!! cya all...Phil

80 series GXL flares.
A mate ripped one off so I rang Toyota to find out how much for a new one.
I have a trade account and they said $735.00 plus tax.
I said I don't want a whole set. He said no thats each.
Consequently we repaired the old one with some filler foam and other goodies he had laying around in the shed.

I got sideswiped on the front and was considering forking out for the repairs myself. After I got told the price of just the flare trade price I straight out called the insurance company to sort it out.
I was blown away with the low cost of snorkels at trade price though: 1/3rd the cost of retail!

About a year ago I ripped out the plastic wheel arch flares on the left rear of my GU patrol. the two pieces cost me just short of a thousand dollars, trade price, not fitted.

Although I had no choice because second hand ones were not available, I let Nissan know very sternly that they are commiting extortion.
