Well, now they've outdone themselves.

Sign up for only another 10 issues at $89.50 to receive:

A free latern! $44
A free torch! $20
AND....
2 x free DVD's! $50

NO!!..... I won't be goaded, I swore I wouldn't..... but then again....

Actually I impressed the BOSS by dismissing it and filing it to the garbage, where she said, it nearly went when she opened it so I wouldn't be tempted..... no faith in us men is there, can't work it out.

John

P.S. if anyone has the Tassy DVD I'll swap it for the Cape York :-))

Well they scamed me the other week, they rang me to renew my subsciption, said I'd get a dvd, I asked if I could have the Tas one, reply was no out of stock,
was told I could have crossing the nullarbor, I thought to my self haven't seen that one so I said Ok. Received it in the mail a week later, guess what it is by their sister mag Caravan and Motorhome. Subaroo's towing small caravans.
Must admit I felt a little cheated on that one.
Although now I'm thinking about selling my patrol and buying a Forester and caravan.

Cheers

Reckon I have had about four calls already Eric, I show little interest now, but earlier ones told me how the rate was to rise if I didn't order. Lately I told em I may buy at the newsagency if I thought there was an item of interest. I think they must be getting a hint or two from earlier comments to the marketing staff too, but subscription will run out soon....

I have that much 4wd monthly advertising at home im going nuts i understand how you feel, i have resisted so far but i can't refuse such a good offer, i can't understand how they can make any money. By the way don't swap your cape dvd, ring up express publications and ask specificaly for the tassie dvd in the deal they will give it to you believe me!

Turbo
Yeah I know they would. They'd jump through fire rings backwards if you ask'em.

Shhh... this is just a ploy - I'm trying to get the Tassy DVD without renewing.

Heya TD...

They make money through their advertising. The cost of a mag covers the printing and other overheads....

If they can get close to covering their publishing costs with subscriptions sales, then they are laughing... The free stuff(lanterns etc) is probably given to them by the wholesaler/supplier in return for free or discounted advertising, hence costing them nothing... it's called a "Contra"

Where they make their money is the advertising...and with 4wd monthly, theirs plently of that...

Standard rates are usually 1k/page or so, varying from mag to mag. Inside cover of the big womens mags are 10k+

So with 4wdmonthly, 394 pages of ads.... "adds" up to a fair bit of income....

They are probably cheaper than most though as they have so many adds and their is no cut through.... They are ad sluts...hehehe

I say, "You no buy dat sheet"

:)

Forgot to say that the more subscribers they have, the more guarantee they can offer potential advertisers that XYZ ppl will read their add. So getting people on subscription is very important to them, that's why they make seemingly crazy offers...
