I am looking at the current model Turbo Diesel pajero platinum so far $54990 drive away what do you think, what is a good bar to put on and i want to lift it 40mm any poroblems with this and what shocks and springs would you recomend. Is there any dramas with the intercooler down the front of the radiator, from all reports these are a good touring vehicle accept for the small
tank

G'Day Dave, I too looked at the Pajero and also the Prado (both Diesel). I ended up with the Prado TDI (two days old). I found that Toyota were more willing to give a better trade. Might be worth looking at. Sorry to throw a spanner into the equation..

Excellent vehicle as long as you don't want to get into the real hard-core stuff. Great touring vehicle (apart from the fuel capacity as noted - and there is an auxiliary
tank available). Most reports say go the auto - very good.
Try the Pajero
forum as they should have all the info on accessories and upgrades.

Dave,
Excellent vehicle (nah, I'm not biased ...)
No problems with a 50mm lift. Can't go any further really cause of CV joint angles. I have King springs and original shockies. Works
well. No need to throw out the originals as they're quite a good shockie. Paj
forum has a link to a step by step
suspension instal if your handy with the spanners and wish to save a few bucks.
The intercooler is a bit vulnerable. Mitsubishi sell a stronger bash plate which I would recommend you factor into your deal, or get an aftermarket one fitted later.
Long range auxillary tanks are available. The exceed can only fit a 60LT
tank due to the rear aircon unit. If you dont have that you can fit a 80LT
tank.
The standard
tank is not all that much of a disadvantage cause the car gets excellent fuel economy.
I have a Smartbar but if you want to fit a winch you'll need an alloy or steel job. ARB make a nice steel bar.
Cheers..........

Great vehicle for towing. I prefer the auto. The DiD is a liitle noisy but you do get use to it. Will benefit from differnt tyres if you are taking it off-road. Depends what you understand by hard core but for me it goes where ever I want to go, in comfort and with confidence.
I left the OE front springs, fitted Kings to the rear and Bilsteins all round. I think the Bilsteins give a flatter ride around town and a smoother ride over corrugations.
I agree the intercoolr is vulnerable. See my photo gallery for pics of the Mitso alloy skid plate.
Sump guard is also a bit weak I've replaced
mine with a custom alloy job.
I chose an ECB painted bar because of weight and looks and I got sick of trying o maintain the look of the Mitso Alloy bar I had on my previous NM.

Hi. We have recently bought the DID GLX, it was 6 months old. We love it. It is very comfortable, holds the road
well and very, very economical. It is very powerful and though we havnt donwe too much four wheeling yet, we have been in deep sand and it was fantastic ( with original tyres etc).
I would go the DID, the motor is far better than the prado and much more powerful. The car is also comfortable and look at the great warranty!!! The tan shuld be ok as they are so frugal on the deisel. Though we have the GLX.
Happy owners
