Hear on the radio this morning about how you must expect fuel to rise dramatically over the next couple of weeks. The guy said a $1 litre will be normal. About time John Howard handed back some of the massive windfall of tax back in fuel tax reduction. Could make an immediate affect. Pity we have such a weak disastrous dumb stupid Federal Opposition party.

Truckster, of course, if you really wanted to be smart, you could take your Safeway/Woolworths vouchers down to +Petrol and presently get 6c a litre off. Good savings in your pocket, and if you have a good deal with your credit card, you can get more free fuel on your credit card.

Ozi,

I actually thought of that cheap crap Safeway Fuel, but after talking to an ex servo owner today that now owns local air cond place, I wont ever go near one again... He owned a Goldern Fleece(yes how long ago is that!) and a Caltex... He almost couldnt compete with the cut fuel of these places. He told me of many tricks they do, not only from where they buy it, (most safeway comes from O/S who knows what quality it is), but once in the ground.

Safeway since buying Shells Servos off them are now 2nd biggest player in the country in Fuel!

Oh well, caltex and bp here still sell real fuel.

Truckster, come on, speaking to a disgruntled service station owner who could not run a good show and compete and consequently got forced out the industry has a bigger axe to grind than some others.
What are all these 'supposed tricks' they do? I bet you are not big enough to repeat them.

Wooworths/Safeway predominantly use all Australian produced fuel, but at times do use some imported fuel like all the major oil companies do.

I heard Coles Myer had bought the Shell Service Stations, not Woolworths/Safeway.

You had better do a quick re-think on your Caltex fuel. They cannot meet the standard of January 1st 2003 and the story goes, the chemical masking agent they are using reduces the calorific value. Now, that is hearsay, and have not had a reply yet from Caltex over this matter. Reason, I get a substantial amount of Caltex diesel free and would prefer the better quality diesel.

Why is he disgruntled? that was yrs ago. He now does Air conditioning, not fuel.

He has nothing to lose... He doesnt sell fuel, he is now in the same boat as you and me.

What are all these 'supposed tricks' they do? I bet you are not big enough to repeat them.
Whats the point... You dont believe anything anyone else but yourself says anyway.

If you had 1% of a brain and/or technical knoweldge or abilty to find out, you would realise today sort of error is just not possible today.

Oziexplorer..... Of course it is possible for a servo pump to put more or even less fuel compared to the pump readout. I own a truck and have been in a situation where the pump was not calabrated properly and i actually recieved more fuel in my tank then what the pump said. This was discovered by the fuel station when they did their checks on their storage tanks. Fuel pumps like any commercial measuring equipment has to be calabrated on a reagular basis. As somtimes problems do occur On the goldcoast I am paying about 86 cents for diesel. Spend up to five grand a month on fuel so watch every litre and dollar rise carfully,as it can make a big difference. Glen

Glen, yes, some pumps can, but the modern digital terminal pumps used by Woolworths/Safeway and other sites, are a go/no go system. The maximum vaiance they will give before they shut down is 3%.
The high volume diesel pumps normally use the older type VeederRoot meters which can give you larger errors both ways. The new high speed diesel pumps I believe use an LLC meter, but need to clarify that.

Axel, come on, Ozi knows everything, dont argue with him... hes scottish, you wont win even when your right..

Safeway/Woolies are the only servos on the planet now, and their diesel and petrol is T H E stuff... Untouched, comes from O/S so its the good stuff, cant be cut down with additives... Their Pumps are 100% correct ALWAYS, same as BP, CALTEX, etc....

Like Taxis with their sealed meters, they cant be played with.. <<-- LARGE AMOUNTS OF LIES HERE....

We have all done it... Ive put 104 ltrs in my 95 ltr tank in Marrickville when it wasnt MT! The guy freaked that I checked.. and then tried to play dumb... Got the fuel for free though!

If ever in doubt, buy a 5 ltr tin off their shelf, and fill it, see what you get.

Axel proves what a liar you are. Those type of pumps cannot be that far out under any circumstances. They would also not close the service station down, they would merely close the one faulty pump. Axel I have a great life, it is a real bummer and tough having education and wealth. Things you can acquire if you aspire to work for them.

Axel & Truckster

Don't even bother talking to Ozi as he is a well known pain in the A on another site. Actually he is probably the most well known pain there is on the web. He believes nothing anyone else has to say and he is always right. To prove the point have a look on the gold prospecting Yahoo site and you will see what I mean. He goes under a different screen name. If you watch his comments enough you will see he has no idea and has given out a lot of incorrect technical advice. Yes he has a basic understanding of stuff all and that's about it. Most people ignore him.

Ozi ... Of course pumps can be wrong. I watched my father-in-law pump $27 of air into their Commodore. The pump was running but nothing was coming out. At the same time, another lady came in to fill her car and that pump started ringing up dollars before she even had the nozzle inserted in the filler. Again, no fuel coming out. Needless to say, two disgruntled customers simultaneously had the servo attendant putting out the "do not use this pump" signs.

Why are you pathetic weasels always jealous of people that have been well educated, do work hard and have acquired wealth and some of the better toys. Axel there are hundreds of thousands of educated people, unfortuantly not enough, and we have to suffer and pay for the bludging apologies of humans like you. Ozi, this is getting silly!
Your use of language (in every sense of the word) does you no credit, neither does it reflect well on the forum.

Similarly, your constant need to argue and justify yourself is not what I would expect from an 'educated' person. Have you ever considered there might be more dignified ways of making your point?

Many people on the forum, including myself, value many of your contributions but it all gets undone when you blow your circuit breaker.

If you wish to debate the merits of education in a derogatory manner, there are undoubtedly other forums to indulge that particular fancy. If you wish to engage in stimulating debate you could achieve that here - I do it for a living. So let's elevate the intellectual level somewhat, shall we?
