Well, I certainly won't trust a repaired snatch strap. I was unfortunate to be stuck nose first in a bog hole this afternoon in the Otways, and the first snatch strap we used was a repaired ARB strap rated at 8000kgs. First pull and she let go with an almighty thwack. Thankfully there was no one, or any other equipment damaged in the process, and thankfully we had more than just one snatch strap. There were three other occasions where a snatch strap had to be used (twice more on my vehicle) and there were no other issues.

On another note, thanks to the Renyards and Diamonds for a great weekend in the Otways. The weather wasn't too bad, and James and I enjoyed the light and thunder show on Friday night. We were camping at the Dandos Camp Ground near Gellibrand, and it was a nice spaceous area. The TLCC had a group there too for their Xmas Bash, and we hardly knew they were there. We went for a drive on Saturday through some lovely rain forest, and also a lot of logging areas on a search for some boggy ground, but alas we did not find much.

Today we drove to Lake Elizabeth through some nice tracks with a bit of mud, but it was the afternoon session that kept us working. We returned to Dandos via the Noonday Track and had an absolute ball, even if it did mean we arrived back in camp rather late. It took us an hour and a half to travel approx 15kms as we traversed (sometimes with some help) through many bog holes. The end section of the track was a nice rutted climb, that again found me hanging on my diffs and I slid into the deep wheel ruts. I did have a hand winch in the back of the truck, but stupid me had left the handle back at camp, so a reverse snatch down hill was used to get me back on track and everyone else to the top of the hill.

Another great weekend with great company, thanks again.

Cheers

Glenn

would be very interesting driving with a wet track in some of them spots i think we will have to head there again before the gates get closed for more fun in the winter.
thanks again glenn/james/john and heather for another great weekend.
