today i would like to whinge about some 4wd owners.
on the weekend we went away to the otways with glen/james /john and heather.
fantastic weekend.
but i must say i can see why some people get the bleep es with 4wd owners.
3 seperate ocasions had me and the mrs saying no wonder we get a bad reputation.
(1)driving between colac and gellibrand in blinding rain/wind/tight up and down hill bends and a thunder storm thrown in at 10.30 at night a 100 series landcruiser decides to over take at high speed on a blind bend.
(2)driving through the otways yesterday on hilly windy roads a prado decides to over take on a bend with a car coming the other way and cut me of to pull back in.
(3)on the way home in the dark last night another prado decides while im climbing hills at around 95ks hes going to sit that close to my rear that i couldnt even see his head lights he kept that up for around 5ks.then over took me and sat on 90.
well thats all ive to whinge about today.
cheers

yeah but not just 4wd owners is it? More non-4wds do this that I have seen overall.

Hi Diamond,
It's your whinge, and probably many others as we go out on the roads and drive like bloody fools, and I definately do not condone it all..next time your out and about jot down how many times you are cut off, abused, ingeneral people not given a sh##t that you are indeed a bigger viechle..sometime need more room to stop..maybe have to go a bit wider to properly clear things..and watch them cut you off dead and want to kill you...sadly this is what happens on the roads albeit by a minority of 2wheelers and also some 4bys aswell..this is people's nature after they have been on the road and all the above has happened to them..they tend to drive agressively..but we the 4WDrivers are the ones they like to blame and turn a blind eye to 2wheelers..This is not fair...you have ask yourself where will all the negetivity end up??in the years to come will we still be on the roads ?? how many tracks wil be still opened??..going down this line of thought the list go's on..you might think this is paranoia but have a look what has happened over the last few months...This is my piont of view only and has nothing to do with anybody else I drive with.

mate, I guess number(2) got the chits with us as I kept close to Glenn so he had to overtake two of us. He was a silly bugga as Moses would have been pretty wide too and slowed right up before turning off. ;-)

Not always 4WDrivers but you make a good point.
Nothing Pi$$es me off more that like you said they will overtake foolishly and then sit 5 KPH slower than what you were going.
The driver that really Sh1t$ me are the ones (both 4WD and 2WD) who will sit on 100KPH in a 110KPH zone and when they come to an overtaking lane will speed up to 110 to 115KPH so you can't overtake and then drop back to 100KPH again. I will admit I have cut the odd one off before today and I think they are a pest on the road. To me that type of driving shows complete lack of confidence in the driver and he or she should not have a licence.
Off my soapbox now.

Hi Diamond, I agree with you whole heatedly.

I’m a Landy lover and give as much lip about Toyota owner’s as I get from them, but it’s not the make of vehicle but the a’hole behind the wheel that will ultimately give us all a bad name.

I live on the Gold Coast and most drivers here are pathetic at best, but about February last year, we had floods in the area and I came up to a section of Somerset Drive in Mudgeeraba that is renowned for flooding if it simply showers, anybody from the area would know what I mean.

As I came up to the T intersection of Springbrook Rd and Somerset Drv. there were about 20 vehicles of different forms, ALL pulled of to the sides of the road everywhere and as I got closer I could see a convoy of 5 vehicles wading through the flood water and I then realised that everybody on this side had stopped to let them come across and so did I.

The was three 4x4s with two sedans sandwiched in between them and being shepherded by the 4x4s. I was really good to see everybody respecting everybody else.

But not for long. the convoy was about half way across this 300 to 400 metre flood way when a brain-dead idiot in a gold merc ML350 or whatever, pulled up behind the last vehicle on this side of the flood way. Then he pulls out, rounds up all the other cars waiting there and sails across the flood way as fast as he could go.

Well he put a bow wave over the bonnet of both sedans and stall them both.

As they were no longer able to go anywhere, the vehicles on this side then moved off and passed them as slowly as they could and went on the way.

After I cleared the flood water, I took off after the scum bag in his precious merc so I could get his number plate.

I managed to catch him, wrote down his number plate and then gave the a’hole a driving lesson that he didn’t like.

I went back to where the vehicles had been. One of the sedans was still there but on the other side of the flood way where others had help push him.

I pulled up and went back to the block and told him I had the scum bag’s number plate. He thanked me but said that the 4x4 that had been behind him while he was crossing the flood way was a mate and he pointed at this old white Toyota, and he had got the number as well. I left it at that and went on my way.

About two months later, I’m parking in Robina shopping centre when a block walks up to me and says “ did you ever see that p##k again”.
I didn’t, at first know what he was talking about, then I saw the old white Toyota.

This was the mate of the poor basted that had had his car flooded. His mate told me they had ended up have to tow the sedan to the guy’s place because it was stuffed and then he informed me that he and all his mates had a copy of the scum bags number plate and they were very interested in finding him.

I’ve seen the gold merc a few times in Mudgeeraba area and I truly hope they get him. This guy not only pulled a scum act but he well and truly gave ALL 4x4s a bad name.

Funnily enough, in this particular case I don't necessarily reckon the d!ckhead would have given the general 4x4 driver a bad (worse?) name at all......cos he would probably have been viewed as being a spoilt, rich @rsehole who couldn't give a chit about anybody else on the road.....he wouldn't even consider himself to be a 4 wheel driver I don't reckon.

Never thought of it that way and you are probably spot on and the other funny thing is that it is other 4x4 owners looking for him.

Cheers and good thinking.

Yer drive I agree with Roachie, thats how I would have seen it, the sedan guys were shown real respect by 4WD'sand some Merc driver tapped out his asreholeness in braille water for all to see.

HIS OTHER CAR IS PROBABLY A VOLVO.

While I was on my last trip. I drive an80 series with a 17'6" caravan.
My most economical speed is 80kph.
This clown overtook me with a caravan in tow. He went right across the road onto the loose hard shoulder. His caravan fishtailed nearly tipping over and causing me to brake. Not content with that, he sat in front of me doing just 80kph. I think that his wife might have said something to him. Itold him he was worse than a hoon over the CB but he did not answer me.

I bet you felt a little satisfaction from being able to the idiot a piece of your mind but also, why didn’t the retard call you to see if he could set up a safe overtaking location.
