My family and I are heading up to Fraser on the 20th of next month, and not having been there for near on 20 years, I was looking for a bit of info as to how far up the island we could get, to find a good camp spot to set up a few days. I anticipate catching the barge at Inskip Point around 4 in the afternoon, and with the tide being dead low around 6, this should give us a couple of hours or so to get somewhere and set up camp behind the dunes on the eastern side. Any suggestions where would be a good spot, maybe with some tree cover, and close to fresh water? I read in a recent post that weed is a problem at the moment. Is this still the case?
Appreciate any feedback.

Anywhere from Eurong up to Eli is good for camping, but will depend on the conditions such as the SE roaring in etc. Your main problem will be getting a campsite that is available, there will be a few people on the island at that time. You could try the western side, at times it is great when the weather and weed is bad on the eastern side, example stong winds. Basically if you see a good spot on the way up the beach grab it, it might not be there when you come back, if you want there is remote camping above Nagala rock (I think you can camp there at the moment) but it is isolated and i mean nothing is there at all.

Just got back last week from 7 nights there. No weed problem.

If you get on the Island at 4pm you would not have enough time to get too far up the beach unless you want to set up in the dark. You should make it to Eurong and from there you could dive 20 min inland to Central (you need to book a site if you do). Or just camp on the beach.

North of Waddy there is no dunnys, shops ect but its the best part of Fraser. However the cutting a little north of Orchid beach is a bitch ! You will get stuck if you make the smallest mistake.

Have a good trip.
