I curently own a suzuki sierra with the stock 1.3L engine and preety much stock everything else. I have decided to replace the whole exhaust system but havent been able to get much direction on which way to go. I was going to go for a 2" system with a new cat. and muffler, as I am looking for a power increase.
Can anyone help me out with the following questions?

Are extractors realy going to make a difference to my power? If so how much?
Are there differences between types of extractors (not so much Brands but Types)?

Any assistace would be greatly appreciated.

Years ago when I had a 1.3 Zook I fitted a Weber carby and that made a lot of difference to the overall performance. More power and better fuel economy.
Extractors may help as well.

Hi there Willem, the only thing I have heard about the weber is that on steep slopes and things when 4wdriving that they starve for fuel as the webers don't have the same fuel bowl set which allows for steep inclines etc Was this a problem for you at all ? Was just wondering as I have heard it numerous times but sometimes you don't know whether it's all talk half the time. Regards Steve

Hi Stephen

Yes you are right.

I do recall stalling on a VERY steep climb and having to do the track a lot faster than anticipated to keep the carby working. lol
But it only happened once

Cheers

Hi Steve,

I'm sorry I can't offer any advice, we have a stock "Sue Zooki" as well, and we would be interested to hear what modifications you do and how they perform. Though I must say that after a "good" tune-up, the performance was much improved ;-)

Cheers,
Wayne W.

G'day, Wayne W. i havent realy undergone many modifications. The only thing that i have done is replace the stock relatively 'road' 205"/70" tyres and 15"/5.5" rims with a set of more agressive 215"/75" tyres and new 15"/6" rims. in doing so i gained an extra inch of diff. clearence. i only experienced a slight loss in power, but due to the extra height now i dont have to dragher body along anymore. The rougher tread made it a little bit noisier on road but only by a fraction (bairly noticable) but it dose feel a little softer under foot too which was a good thing.

I owned a sierra with the 998cc engine and i had a set of extractors put on and the exhaust exited just before the rear tyre (illegal) . I also had an adapter made up to fit an su sidedraft carby . You just muck around with different needles until you get the right fuel delivery . The difference was amazing (for a 998cc suzuki) .
