Hi all

Does anybody have any performance information on the various tyre pressure/temperature monitoring devices currently available. e.g Sensa Tyres etc.

I would like to know whether anybody has used them and if so how they have found their performance?

Thanks for any info provided.

Cheers

Paul T,
I've got a SensaTyre fitted, pretty impressed, gives accurate tyre pressure readings and temps from what can tell. I have one sensor that doesn't seem as responsive as the rest which is the offside rear sensor. Tyre rotation becomes a challenge, each sensor is specific to each tyre position. Took the sensors originally to a tyre house to fit they wanted $25 per tyre plus the cost of a balance. Told me the fitting of the sensors was a pain in the arse and they weren't that interested in doing the job. I went home and did them myself for nothing in the shed with my R & R beadbreakers all finished in an hour. Just got the balance done after that, the tyre have to be rebalanced they shook a lot.
I can see the uses, more so on beach work, good for working out the if tyre pressures are right when doing highway work, temp increase etc. I was amazed how much hotter the rear tyre run when I've got the camper trailer in tow. Something I didn't know or appreciate.
Are they worth the money, if I ever come close to an accident due to tyre failure and being forewarned yes. Foe me the closest I'm come to anything was a tyre I rolled on the beach deflating on the way home, the alarm went off a long time before I would of noticed the problem. This also comes setting the alarms pretty tight to the running pressures.
My opinions & experiences.

Paul T,

I also have a Sensatyre unit fitted to my hilux for over 1 year now no problems works great,if you rotate tyres just reprogramme ID codes of transmitters into there new positions.
Ran over a piece of scrap metal on freeway and the alarm went off to warn me of the puncture.
As Martyn said it's amazing how your tyre temperatures change under different situations.
