Gidday,

Have posted the same question once before - thanks to all those who replied previously, but have tried all the suggestions and have still come up with bl**dy water, along with a replacement fuel regulator that hides behind the drivers side kick cover below the dash (expensive little sucker).

Problem being water coming in from SOMEWHERE into the front of my 60 series.

Have gone beserk with 'No More Gaps' into every crevasse, gap and possible point of water access, replaced/covered all mastic that even looked cracked - with the exception of the gap where the bonnet hinges go through the firewall. Have removed inspection plates in engine bay side of firewall - no obvious probs; taped up air grills at base of windscreen (have replaced tape with scoops to divert water that flows off windscreen and allow the use of windscreen washers) still getting in; run plastic tubing from ends of gutters - nope; cleaned and checked rubber seals around doors - still it hoses in on both passenger and drivers side - have removed carpet and floor grommets to get it to drain out.

'tis the 'wet' in the NT and my toes are starting to web together - can anybody help????

Thanks in advance

Chris

Hi Chris, I know how you feel.
Mine used to be watertight until I resprayed the car, the only major difference before and after was installing one piece front door glass.
I am yet to find outer door glass seals and as a result there is plenty of water going into the door cavity.
End result is water pooling into the floor area adjacent to the lower forward section of the door.
I am guessing that the water runs down the inside of the door and finds it way inside through the door trim studs & seal studs.
If our outer seals & 1/4 window seals are fine then I would check the seal on the windscreen & also any cabling/wiring running from the engine bay to the cabin.
good luck!!

I agree with windscreen.
Have it taken out, checked for rust and refitted.
Maybe with a bit of luck. We do get a few through the workshop.
Hope this helps.

had a problem with my 60.
the only way to find it is pull all the mats up amd get the hose out and dump the water all over and then you will find where its all coming from.
thats how i did it and it worked for me.

I think I was one of those who responded to your first post.

I tried the hose thing.

I had the windscreen replaced. (to remove it you break it. aaaarrrgggh !!!!!)

I pulled out the entire heater and replaced the hoses (this required pulling out the entire dash. aaaarrrgggh! ) I did this because water was getting in to the car and the radiator was losing water..... later turned out to be a cracked head, not a leaky heater. aaaarrrgggh!

My last hope was the rubber strip along the top of the engine bay but ended up selling it and upgrading to a rattly Nissan.

Having spoken to a few others this seems common.

Live with it, leave the carpet out when it's wet, or sell it.

LATE NEWS..... dit dit dit. dot dot dot.
My mate recons it's the door seals, at the front of the door, above or near the top hinge. put talcom powder on the inside of the door seals and see if it gets wet.

Will try the talc - and don't feel like stuffing a windscreen.

Hi, Chris,
The sunroof Question was because in sunroof models the sunroof drain tubes run down through the kicker panels.
My other thought was behind that kicker panel as high as you can get your hand there is a 1 1/2 inch rubber grommet that from memory the bonnet release runs through, if that is missing or torn the water running down from the gap at the base of the windscreen would come through. Anyway it is an easy check, get your head in there with a torch you will see where I mean. 99% sure that is on all 60's.
Hope this helps, let us know either way.
