Howdy all, having a debate with my flat mate about who was the first Australian Explorer to have a show on TV. I reckon it was either Mike and Mal or
Malcolm Douglas? He reckons it was Jack Absolum(?) in that bleep ty old sigma. Can anyone shed some light on the subject?
regards timbo.

naturalists' shows aside,
i believe it may be Mike and Mal (Leyland), their first docco was in 1963. Think Jack Absalom may have been later, when colour tv came in. gees I reckon he is brilliant though, I love watching him and learning. He expresses a love for this country and it's history that I just don't see from others, apart from
Malcolm Douglas and perhaps Les Hiddens.

What Nebster said. Keith Adams and his lovely wife from 'Northern Safari' fame. Classic Australian outback travels in a 2WD Buick!
Met them both BTW, very cool folks with lotsa stories.
Anyone remember the old seppo show 'Trails to Adventure' with Jack someone? He'd introduce the show from his wood panelled study sitting on his desk and spin the globe to point out where the next story would be from. "traiiiiiiiillllls....to adven...tcha!"
