Finally sold the trusty old 3lt GQ a few weeks ago, after 8 trouble-free yrs of ownership it was hard seeing her go. That left us with the GU and the VL turbo, "finally down to 2 cars!" ( OK, and 3 bikes ) was the enthusiastic response from SWMBO, they just seem to have such a hard time accepting the fact that the man with the most toys wins!
But never fear, where there's a Pezza-with-adrenalin, there's always a way!
So after many months of research and number crunching for a heart transplant for the 2.8 GU, and not being happy with any of the final cost results, I figured the most economical way was to buy a 4.2TD. and go the MTQ, and exhaust upgrade, especially when I discovered they're 10k cheaper now than they were 12 months ago.
So a 99 4.2 GU with 100k on it has just found a new home!
I drove a few over the last 12 months and this one just seemed to go far better than the others, still has standard exhaust, so I doubt if there's any upgrade of any sort, just a good tune-up I'm guessing.
Now for the tyresome part of swapping everything over, there goes my next few weekends!
Anyone in the market for a 2.8 GU with motsons chip and dual batteries? I can hear something in the background about too many toys! De-ja-vu?

'on yer ImEasy! Good old Lada Niva, one of the most under rated rigs ever made.(Especially by some of the prima donnas of the 4x4 mags who would rather drive a"battle-ship" when a "gun-boat" would have done the job.) I recently was hurtling along the highway down near Gin-Gin and a Lada Niva guy I met at a servo, was running along in front at legal 110kph for about an hour or so at through the fun winding mountain roads..Turned to Biggenden or somewhere..

LOL Pezza, you'll be happy as a pig in mud working on your new chariot. Just the excuse er sorry reason to upgrade/change bits and pieces as you go. Strike while the iron is hot and SWMBO is in a good mood :))))))
