That happened to me once, driving a Cortina. I pushed the envelope too far with the grinding bearing noise in the rear wheel. AND I was in a remote area in West Africa. Had to walk some distance to get to a farm for assistance.

forgot about him, actually found one of his tapes in the car on the last taralga trip.
and was it quick draw mcgraw who had that wagon that extended it's
wheels when it came to big holes in the road?

Old Quick Draw sure did have the wagon with the special axles!
I've got some photo's of my mates CJ5 on
Cape York with the same axle feature!!
Then some photo's of his towbar gooseneck bolted onto the top of the gooseneck of my table top cruiser for the trip back to
Coen.

Come on fellas. You should know it isn't a Land Rover.
All Land Rovers for the last 30 years at least have fully floating axles just to stop the Jeep semi floating axle out problem.
Its some Chinese copy of a Russian 4by.
