Hi all,
A mate of
mine has a 4 year old, 50 litre Waeco fridge which he has offered to lend me next year when we do a 5 week trip up to the Gulf. He doesn't use the fridge any more so I'm thinking of offering to buy it from him but don't really have a feel for what it would be worth, so I was hoping for some opinions from you all on what would be a reasonable price to pay.
Thanks
Ando

Don't really know what it is worth now but it would have been around $900 when he purchased it.
Cheers dave l.

$500 is a reasonable price i would think. Offer him $400.

if $500 is reasonable, are you suggesting to be unreasonable in offering $400? Stu, I know nuthing of Waecos.

Ando,
I bought a 32lt (I know not the same size) about 12mnths ago brand new with transit bag for $550 so I am guessing a good price would be $100 (at least) less than this for a reasonable second hand unit in the 50lt size.
Hope this helps Trevor.

My rule of thumb is 2/3 price of a new one IF its in great nick - 1/2 price of new for average condition. Only a guide - anyway, can't compare with new because they have upgraded the controls since then - 240 V now built in too. Your friend's fridge aside, one complication in trading used
camping goodies is the arrival of these el-cheapo fridges etc at the discount stores - many people can't appreciate the quality in the better brands - they probably think $350 is too much for a new fridge.... getting hard to sell quality used gear at times...... blame the Chinese.

Thanks guys. Somewhere around $400 - 500 seems to be the consensus which seems reasonable to me.
Thanks for your input.

have a look at the prices at www.fridgeshop.com.au
the fridges there are ones that broke and were swapped for new under warranty. they then fix them up and sell them with a shorter warranty
