Good grief ,,,,,,,,,,forget all of the above,,,especially chlorpyrifos.
DO NOT use this stuff unless you are trained to do so. It may not be a carcenogenic, but if you injest or get into the blood stream,,,off to hospital you go.
forget Flick pest control,,,get a local bloke who lives and works in your area to come and have a look before you do anything else. Talk to your neighbors and see if they have/had the same problems, and the solutions used.
Borax is a stopgap measure and the ants will simply go to another part of the house. Bearing in mind that it has been nearly ten years since i last did pest control,,,,,,when i did a house that was infested with carpenter ants,,,,it had to be fully gassed...ie...fully tarped up to seal completely, then gassed. a pain in the backside to do, and not cheap.
hopefully there are better methods available now.
but please, please, please do not use a chemincal unless you are trained to do so.
an O/D of chlorpyrifos causes more pain than the ants ever will.

Ouch. Sounds like that could cost a second hand GU.
Alternatively if the pest controllers don't know what they are, they won't put them in a report (maybe).
Sell it and use it as an opportunity to move on....
It's not a nice option - but it is an option.
Might be difficult if you have a conscience too. Don't know if I could do it.

I recently got rid of a nest of Meat ants using david Grays Termite and Ant killer. I had to poison there active holes and go out every hour and poison their new holes (surly they cant dig them that quick??) every time i thought I had got all their holes they started coming out of another 2 or 3. After poisoning a hole they abandon it carrying out eggs etc so i would try and kill them as they exited with flyspray. I new they were running out of holes when they started putting there eggs in the shade of small rocks. It took 2 days and 2 bottles of ant killer as
well as an economy size pack of ant powder and a can of flyspray but i poisoned over 30 holes and now the aggressive little purple buggers are gone.
By the way geocacher (djcache) did you get my MM with email addy?

I did but it got the 2 day chop. I've been on night shift and I had it sitting there, but if you leave them very long after reading them they disappear.
Want to resend it?

Thanks for that. From what I have read on the net they can be pretty tricky to get rid of and it's for that reason that I don't trust pest control guys that don't seem to really know what they are to start with. Moving is not an option - we love the place and have not been there long. The place is not that old, so hopefully we can get rid of them before too much damage is done.
