Thanks to the previous correspondence on the site and replies to my thread of linking Etrex and Laptop - ALL is OK now. Have purchased Oziexplorer and Natmap Raster premium software as well as the USB adapter cable and it all tested perfectly.
Interesting though is having to change configuration on the GPS when upload/download data (Uses Garmin) and for the moving map it has to be set to NMEA OUT).
Thanks again,
JC

yes its annoying that isnt it? NMEA is the universal format for GPS comms and you can set Ozi up to use Garmin comms too I think but i had trouble doing it so it worked all the time, i just go change it when I need to.

Good job and enjoy

My magellan doesn't. I assumed they'd all be the same but apparently not.

Mag/ Gold, if I upload download tracks waypoints, It automatically turns off my MNEA sentences. So to start moving maps again you need to reselect it. My Osi crashes every now & then so I am grate full that i have a GPS that stores this info rather than a GPS usb mouse that I think is just a receiver.

It's more of a hassle with the Garmin Rox as one has to enter the menus and put the gps into garmin mode and then again to put it back into NMEA mode for moving map.
