Has anyone been out to the Moore river state forrest and had a play in and around the river, directly east of Sea Bird. I was out there a short time ago and found a small area to 4wd in. I have seen on web sites and 4wd magazines this area as well as some other spots. Has anyone explored the whole area, as I would like to go back but 'am not sure where to explore. Your guidance would be helpfull.
Thanks

I obviously havent been there, cause my question is, where is this area. Australia is a big place and unfortunately, this post give no indication as to its location within Australia.

Not trying to be nasty, just find that this forum lets me learn about areas in Australia that I havent been to and I can then put them on a list of "interesting places" for when I go travelling.

Thanks. That area is actually of interest to me as we are planning an extended trip to WA next year now that I have "retired".

Will now add it to the list of places of interest.

Paddy

Have recently (2 months) returned from a weekend at Moore River. There are numerous sand tracks thru the bush between Moore River and Sea Bird. Didn't get East of Seabird, but had fun in the sand.

As far as we coudl find there is no "free air" in Sea Bird, so be prepared.

If driving on the beach north of Moore River, be careful as lots of try hards on the beach, and only a narrow band of "good driveable sand". Got the RAV stuck (lack of clearance), but also got a Hilux Surf stuck, and almost a Disco (V8 got it thru, though!). Reason we all got stuck was a joker in a Cruiser who thought he knew what he was doing, when he decided to drive up and down the beach, ripping it to shreds. Luckily he got bogged, and had to be rescused (by our party). This then caused 2 of our three to get stuck in all his dug up sand.

Great place for some fun in the sand, with a couple of testing sand hills, and a few moments of concern. Must add, 1 hill had the Surf stumped, teh Disco took three goes, but a fully laden (4 people) RAV made it up first go, no hesitation - bragging rights are a wonderful thing !!

Enjoy your trip

I'm guessing that you're talking about the stretch of river, East of the Lancelin Rd. There are many nice river crossings to try out. Be careful on the eastern side of the river as it is private property and stock moves through the area from time to time.
