Thankyou to all who replied to my query on Generator on the 6-12-05. SOme great comments / feedback. I agree ofthe brands Iknow Honda and Yamaha would be the go, but as Japmel stated $1750 after cashback vs $899 for a Kipor which sounds ok re literature does raise the question. Again thankyou and if anyone does currently own or has owned ether a Kipor or Suyama I woul dlove tohear your thoughts.
Cheers all

At $550 for 2 KVa, I would certainly give the Suyama a go!

My GMC $98 750W (really 550W) 2 stroke generator is still running well after two years - do we always get what we pay for? Then again having spent $1500+ on a Honda et al (certainly a mechanically superior machine – but not, perhaps, 15 times so?) I doubt one would be willing to acknowledge (or even countenance) otherwise?

Hi Ian F,
Purchased a 2 kva KIPOR about 4 months ago, Ripper little geny, only paid $1250.00 for it. Have seen them brand new on Ebay for even less. I gave it a good tryout on a 2400 watt" Steel cut off Saw" , Ran it no worries, not bad for a 2000 watt geny. It is minimumly louder than a Honda but not enough to worry anybody, You can have 2 for the price of 1 Honda.

I actually have a Yamaha EF2800i but am putting that aside to go with a Kipor 3000ti in a boat application. The Yamaha is faultless however a little too big physically for what I need and the Kipor is almost as strong, 2600 watts vs 2800 watts. The Kipor is also quieter and will fit where I need it to go. I bought my Kipor from Novasmic via Ebay and they have been helpful and courteous. The Kipor 3000ti goes for $1299.00 on Ebay. Both of these generators are inverter models and the Kipor is around 58dB on the noise front, nice and quiet.

Just a quick heads up - I own a Kipor 3000Ti, and love it. main fault I had was
the on/off switch kills both fuel & ign, was dodgy from new, so I modded it to allow fuel shutoff only and have a separate ignition switch.

Also I can't fathom why they are so expensive - I bought mine in the middle east
earlier this year and it cost approx $500AU

so somebody here is making a killing....

for what its worth I may (note may) be able to get some 1000Ti's posted back here would cost around $240-250 landed

cheers

John
