Hello there,
I would like to find a map of Moerton Island (Off
Brisbane), that shows the heights of the mountains and valleys and such in feet or metres - and forest torrain would be a bonus, in those 'isobar' type of things.
Don't the (no speeling), orienteering maps (Those people that run around to get from A-B, over mountain and vale), offer me what I'm after?
I've tried a few links sent me, but it normally entails digging through endless links or end up linking back to where i came from.
Not sure if anyone has one has a JPg or such, or could provide a uptodate link (say from 5 years ago), that would be great.
Thanks,
Alan
Have a good and safe christmas to all.

Alan,
Do you mean contours? Sumap, which is the QLD government mapping agency should have maps of
Moreton Island with what you want. In general terms you are probably after a "Topographic Map". You need to work out what scale you are after ie more detailed but covering less area say 1:10,000 and 1:25,000 or less detailed say1:100,000 and 1:250,0000 scale which covers more area in less detail. Any reasonable map
shop should stock those types of maps. You might also try HEMA maps who also put out and excellent product.

I hope this is of some assistance

Sunmap has recently released the Qld 25K Mosaic maps in digital form.
The original paper maps numbered some 400+.
These are also available in digital form - called Raster maps.
They then joined allthe digital maps together - called Mosaic map.
The maps come in 3 files - North qld;Central and South East Qld.
You could probably buy just
Moreton Island in either paper or digital.
The details on Moreton are excellent - showing contours, tracks, telegraph lines, etc
Have a look on the ExplorOZ
Shop or any outlet that sells GPS or maping gear.
regards...............

Hi,
I can certainly attest to the quality of the Qld 25K Mosaic maps in digital form.
and aslo like the 250k Raster maps from GeoScience. I have and use both. If you only want a paper map, I can recommend the SunMap -
Moreton Island, available from most map shops.
If you wish, you can download the 250k Raster from GeoScience for free, they have just released the entire set for Aust. you only have to register why and how you are using them.
Link to GeoScience, just follow from here to the free download page.

Thnanks Guys,
Went to the Geoscience site, but they didn't seem to have
Moreton ISland. They had Fraser and Heron Island.
I realise i could have gone to the map makers, but i was hoping to get something on-line as it's only for a weeks use.
I'll have to make enquiries with the map makers.
Thanks for your help.
Alan.

Alan,
They're only about $8. Rather then spending hours on the net looking for something that's not there, it'd be faster and cheaper just to buy the real thing.

Robak,
Thanks for your reply, and i know how it seems at times with cheapskates around. But the cost didn't bother me.
I actually needed that map over the weekend, for a Monday meeting. This issue about looking at
Moreton Island only came up on Thursday night - so i got caught off guard.
It would have just been good to have something to 'clarify' myself with over the weekend.
I do actually have a local (HarbourTown) map
shop. I'll pop in and see what he has on Saturday.
Cheers,
Alan.
