Hi all

I have just purchased a Nissan Patrol GU 2003 and it came with an Electronic Brake Control device. The was purchased through a dealer but he did no what or how the device works. There is a small instruction A4 sheet of paper in the glove box about it but it doesn't explain how or what to use it for.

I'm guessing it to assist with towing heavy items like caravans etc, However I have no intention of towing large items and am thinking of removing it.

Can anyone goive me some information about it, if its worth removing etc

Thanks

Dax

Its second hand value is not very much.

Whilst you do not intend to tow a caravan or trailer with electric brakes, it could come in handy one day.

As you are limited in weight what you could tow, without it, I suggest thats its removal could leave ugly screw holes.

If you sell the truck, it could be qan attraction to the new owner

Regards

A brand name and model would be useful here. As Herkman says, if another owner needs to tow, the controller would be a bonus.... though electric brakes on the trailer are not a trifle - they cost good $ at either the build or the retro stage. Brake controller fitments commonly cost around $150 - $250 plus labour.

When we bought our Patrol,,,, the last thing on our mind was towing a trailer... guess what?? we now own a trailer!.... so unless the brake controller is "in-the-way".... why not leave it there until you are sure you won't need it? And as other have said, one day when you go to sell the truck, it may be attractive to the next owner!

Leave it there if it's not in the way, Value second hand is Jack bleep e plus you waould have to take it out and fix the holes.
