High temp oil filter elements

can anyone explain the difference it would make changing the high temp type, diesel oil filter element to a standard type. eg: Z32 Ryco high temp versus Z9 [appart from price].

You've got me with this one, I've never come across a high temp oil filter, high flow, yes, not high temp. Oil temp should be pretty consistent no matter what you run, synthetics will go to a higher temp without film and other problems. If the oils getting to hot the option would be to fit an oil cooler. I'll be interested in other responses.

Hi Martyn,
The filters do not state the flow rate, both Z32 and Z161 have high temp paper, stating so on the filter. The Z9 on the other hand does not. My concern is will the paper in the cheaper filters break up and cause engine damage befor oil change? Also running a turbo.

Never noticed myself, thanks for that. personally I only run the OEM filters in my Nissan due to the complications if I ever had an engine failure. If I didn't have the correct filter in I wouldn't have a very good case. Don't know anything about your vehicle so maybe it's and economics decision. I run a motorcraft filter in my Rangie, there's no real point in putting the OEM filter in that one.
