Hey all,
Was just wondering if anyone could give me any info on mega grunt air compressors. Are they any good, cheap and nasty etc.
Thanks!

I like
mine, its pumped the tyres up about 30 times so far and worked
well everytime. Takes just over 2 mins to get each tyre from 15-38psi.
Mals (auto supplier) had them on special for $199 WITH a set of 4 Staun deflaters!!!! a week after I bought
mine... (init always the way?)

I have one....
During a recent 3-month trip (towing a tandem-axle CT) through the Central & Western deserts, I was regularly running tyres @ 12-16 psi (vehicle) & 8 psi (trailer).. down to 10 & 14 psi on the vehicle on a couple of occasions, & also repaired 2 punctures, so the comp. had quite a work-out during this period... It handled the job with ease, & is still working fine...
I paid around $150.00 for it about 18 months ago, and I'm pretty happy with it...
Similar looking units have been going on ebay recently for
well under $100.00, bit I have no idea if these are good, bad, or indifferent...

Is this the same as the Bush Pig from Malz?? If so,even tho' it is a good unit performance wise ,I would suggest that you remove the end cover over the electricals & re-solder all of the connections. Or as I did, replace them with good quality terminals. so when you want to re inflate tyres from 8 PSI to get off of a beach, you don't find it doesn't work because of dodgy factory soldering.

I have a megagrunt and am very happy with it, got it for $185.
Works
well, and has never missed a beat, unlike my previous Hurrican ($160) which used to overheat after 2 tyres and take 30 minutes to cool down.

worth noting, just because it looks the same on the outside doesn't necessarily mean its the same guts. Apparently there's a world of difference in the quality of whats on the inside. Personally, if I didn't know the brand itself I wouldn't buy one on ebay that looked like one I knew. Its a real hassle sending something back you bought off ebay. I'd suggest unless you know its a good model etc, buy it from a
shop where you can sling it back at them when it fails.
