Hi all,

Im in the process of installing a dual battery system in my truck. Ive got a 1990 model hilux with a 2.4 petrol engine and i cant for the life of me, work out where i can mount the auxillary battery. Ive tried removing the air box and mounting it there and it fits in the space but is a little high and the terminals hit on the bonnet when i try to close it. Ive also thought about mounting it under the car or in the tray but would prefer to keep it in the engine bay. Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

I couldn't find anywhere under the bonnet either, I've got gas gear also. I threw it in the tray and ran the cables underneath in flexible steel conduit, run the thickest cable you can get your mitts on and it'll work very well. The enviroment in the tray is a very kind on batteries also.

Go to one of the import wreckers and you will be able to get an airbox from a Surf that mounts further back up the inner guard and then allows another battery to be installed where the orginal air filter was.

Is your Hilux the 2.7 Lt or V6 ?

I had the 2.7 1989 Hilux, I had to move the charcoal Canister (passenger side) to the other side of the engine bay, fitted the battery cradle in its place. Piranha had a cradle for this exact spot

A little bit of mucking around but ok
