Hope you watched the latest series of Top Gear on SBS or those in the West do so please at 7.30pm Monday nights. Road testing tonight Porche 911 but not sure which it is - they are that is. Is it the old one. That is on a track.
Also roadtesting on a beach in Wales. The Vauxhall (Holden) Monaro 5.7 litre, versus the Chrysler/Mercedes 300 Hemi (where you cant switch off the traction control) and the 4.2 litre 400 horsepower S-Type Jaguar. The favourite is the Australian car much to their surprise and delight. All hoons mind you, doing big circles in the sand and a drag race where the Monaro doesn't win because it doesn't get sufficient traction and digs holes in the sand.
Much humour and worth the hour of your time with some guest appearances. Have fun.

heheheh, you aren't referring to Heather doing 65kph in the outskirts of Horsham a few months back are you?
They ended up saying that anyone who was after a performance car who didn't buy one was mad. GM may sell a few of them after the show gets around.

She is not the only one that got done recently. Mrs Des is still pi$$ed off for doing 66 in a 50zone in downtown
Berri. But no-one uses that road she says. No excuse says I just pay up and get over it. I told ger that it was her xmas pressy. LOL
She wanted something shiney or fragrant for a pressy so I'll get her a can of Mr Sheen.

You are a hard man Mr Lexic. Will she know how to get the diamond off the Mr Sheen can? 16 kmh over the limit in the nanny state is over $200 - loss of three points too, and 25kph is loss of licence - with immediacy.
The Vic policing system got ahead of itself yesterday when it sent a demand to the company of another $600+ as it said the company hadn't attended to the paperwork. Apparently the paperwork is in and they recognise that but it is normal to get their systems out of synch. They just wanted to blow about something I think.

that show rocked, it is an awsome slant on a car show. compare it to the poofter show "the car show" on channel 9 here and you can see the effort they put into top gear.

Didn't hear about mrs JohnR being booked.....
I saw these guys do a road test on a very early model hilux on pay tv in NZ, after being crashed, beaten about with a demolition ball, submerged in the sea for hours and set on fire it still ran (did take a little while after being under
water)
shows the toughness of a toyota

yeh I was a passenger in Moses, and she had the boot in it. I saw the camera car coming up too and told her as we went past "that is a camera car you know"......
gramps it could only be an old Hilux as the new powderpuff would be crushed.

If you are a fan of Top Gear you may also like Fifth Gear, which is another pommie show. Jermey Clarkson and Tiff Needell used to both work on TG, but Tiff went and made FG...
www.finalgear.com is a site that you can download the episodes via a torrent. You need broadband as each episode is around 350meg... The lastest one aired on saturday night in the UK... The one just on SBS is from last year if I recall.

350 meg and broadband are foreign to country folk unless we got satellite. Telstra don't have staellite on HiBis rate at the moment. Why Telstra? Because they service our phone accounts and our current emails and they are the only ones likely to be here for a while. Will look at finalgear though, thanks.

JohnR, thanks for the heads up. Read this just in time to watch it - great stuff.
We used to do stuff like that on those rock hard beaches east of
Esperance at low tide in the old utes.
What a job those blokes have. Don't think I'd be too keen on buying a demo Jag, Maonaro or 300C from Top Gear after watching the 100kmh ocean antics. the Herc was a nice touch too.

Seen a few of thier shows.
Son has downloaded most of thier tests of the net.
The 300kw monaro was tested a year or so ago.
Great to see the monaro come out on top. Sorry Vauxhall, doesn't sound the same.
And the monaro wasn't the top model, only the 260kw version.
Also, remind me not to drive a particular Vauxhall, chrysler or jag in Britian after driving through all that salt
water. I don't even do that in a 4wd!
Have you seen the test where they decide to race form London to Monaco?
One by express train (100 to 125 mph), one by plane (change in Paris) and one by Aston Martin.
Aston won, just. Even after he was pulled up by the gendarmes on an unlimited motorway. They just wanted to look at the car. He was cruising on 120 (mph) after catching the ferry.

sorry to give you the info but it was NEW to me and many others in Australia who don't get to see the cable channels and get broadband internet too. I could not possibly comment on the 7, 9 and channel 10 rip offs, I don't often want to watch the junk there. EO is more fun;-)

This show is a great bit of fun even if hosted by pommies.
Became a convert last year when in England but keep your eye out for the celebrity show when Jamie Oliver prepares a meal in the back of his Porsche powered Kombie whilst doing hot laps at Silverstone.
