I need info on the best place in Brisbane to give the 4.2 TD with 45000 klms a badly needed tune. What else I could do to improve power and fuel consumption .Thanks in advance for any advice.

Tried the local Nissan Dealer???

If its that new, it shouldnt be that out of tune, unless its never been properly tuned before ...

mine's a 1999 GU 4.2turbo
has done 60,000kms
cruising at 115/120 mine gets 14-15L/100km, with big tyres (285/75/16) and an empty roofrack.
140km/h it uses 16-17L/100km.

You won't get decent fuel economy until the engine loosen's up completely. That can be around the 60 to 80 K's mark. Not much point tipping your money into tuning until the engine is operating freer and therefore more efficient. If you are getting around 18 to 15 litres per 100km, then that is average until it is run in.
