Hi Ben,
Is it really worth it to pay to get a car from the Gold Coast to Perth? There must be a few good Vitaras around that way without going to all the expense & hassle (unless your uncle is giving you the car for nothing).
Check with your state Roads & Traffic Authority as to whats involved in transfering the rego.
Car carrier? Sorry, no idea.................. try the Yellow Pages?

got to agree unless its really cheap I would guess that it would be a grand pluss - to get it from queensland and then coz it is from interstate its gotta go over the pits also have an immobilizer fitted. Your cheap good buy could easily have 2 grand added to the price

How busy are you? I would much prefer to spend a grand or so meandering back from QLD than pay for it to go onto the back of a truck

Get your uncle to send a receipt or Stat dec saying he has given the car to you. Then drive to the nearest Department of Planning and Infrastructure centre for inspection.

If the car is still in rego drive to a reccomended mechanic or service centre first though and tell them you are going over the pits and they can clean up any oil weeps and advise on what will need fixing prior to attending pits. This will save you going back and forwards to the pits which can be a hassle. Queensland rego I believe is cheaper but they won't recognise a WA based registered owner.

You dont need the stat dec and you will still need to pay stamp duty. You have to get the vehilce registered in WA within 3 months whether the owner lives interstate or not

If its for nothing then it's a bargain, as was said above rego will be a point as inspection required, is it a 1.6L or the V6 2.5L ? Either way very capable off road if not fitted try and get yourself a guard for the fuel tank very proned to getting punched up,great little motors virtualy trouble free personally I think the 1.6 is more reliable than the V6, as I have had both,V6 had a lot of oil leaks the 1.6 there was none, V6 use to leak around the exhaust manifolds alot, fuel wise there about the same, is it auto or manual ??. I found ground clearance was the biggest let down even with a suspension lift, unless you spend some $$$ and get that plus a body lift but you need to check with rta what the legal requirements are.As for transporting it there is a couple TNT car carriers,TDG car carriers, and numerous others. as said check your phone books or get on the net and see what is also in queensland and ring them and see if they have any trucks coming back towards you.Got yourself a great bargain and a great little 4wd.Shame this was not on here about a week ago, just through out a heap of spares when I cleaned out my shed before xmas and dont know any body with one so chucked it all in the bin oil filters, radiator hoses, fan belts etc, would of sent over to you for nothing would prefer to see them get used than throw but had been sitting there for 12 months so out it all went ah well. Have a great new year and enjoy your new vehicle. Ps just double check over the car really well when it comes over make sure there is no damage done that wasnt there ask your uncle what /if there is any damage prior so you know some of these truckies can be pretty rough or they can be vandilised over night if parked some where.
